OUR APPROACH

Guided by our strategic plan

Our Strategic Plan sets out our priorities for improving health and wellbeing for Aboriginal people in Central Australia and the Barkly. The plan reflects the perspectives of our members, partners and communities, and provides a clear framework for how we focus our efforts, build partnerships and measure impact.

How we work in the region

We take a collaborative, translational approach – bringing together Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, health services, researchers, universities and partners to address priorities identified through our Strategic Plan and by our members.

Our role is to create the conditions for strong relationships, shared learning and coordinated action, helping ensure research is relevant, culturally informed and grounded in local context.

PUTTING OUR PRIORITIES INTO ACTION

Our approach focuses on strengthening Aboriginal leadership in research, building workforce capability, supporting high-impact research translation and fostering collaboration across the region.

We work alongside partners to co-design research, support governance and ethics processes, mobilise resources and translate evidence into improvements in services, policy and practice. This ensures research contributes to meaningful change rather than remaining theoretical.

Supporting long term impact

CAAHSN supports networks and initiatives that enable knowledge sharing, innovation and continuous improvement across the system. By aligning our work with strategic priorities, we help ensure research informs decision-making, strengthens services and improves outcomes for communities.

Our approach recognises that lasting change requires trust, sustained partnerships and a commitment to learning together over time.
