Community Partnerships

Building Aboriginal research leadership and strengthening research capacity across Central Australia

Meaningful Engagement

Genuine community and consumer involvement is not an add-on at CAAHSN – it’s built into how we work. We partner with community members, consumers, and organisations across Central Australia to make sure research reflects the priorities, knowledge and experiences of the people it’s meant to serve.

Community & Consumer Involvement in Research

Community and consumer involvement means people with lived experience of health issues are active partners in research — not just participants. At CAAHSN, this means community voices shape what questions get asked, how research is designed, and how findings are translated into real change.

We work to ensure involvement is meaningful, culturally safe, and led by community — not driven by compliance or tick-box processes.

What this looks like in practice:

  • Community members involved in setting research priorities
  • Consumer representation in project governance and advisory groups
  • Community consultations that inform our strategic direction
  • Two-way learning between researchers and community knowledge holders
